Officer Course for Peace Support Operations (OC/PSO)
This course is designed to enable an officer to carry out his duty as
- Commander or deputy commander of a company
- Platoon leader Staff Officer in a national (multinational) battalion (contingent)
- Junior Staff Officer in an international HQ
in the framework of Peace Support Operations.
Contents:
After completing the course the participants are expected to be able to perform their respective duties in the framework of Peace Support Operations. The curriculum includes:
- Tasks of a platoon leader and a company commander
- Staff duties in a national (multinational) battalion (contingent)
- Information about United Nations Organisation
- Information about NATO, OSCE and EU
- Information about civilian organisations involved in PSO
- Preparation for missions
- Psychological stress during and after deployment
- Medical training, hygiene and food preparation
- Communications
- Legal aspects of PSO
- Background of PSO
- PSO techniques such as OP duties, CP duties, patrolling, inspection
- Negotiation and liaison both in theory and in practice
- Multinational staff duties in PSO NATO- and UN-based CPX at battalion, company and platoon level
Language proficiency:
The course will be held in English. Minimum language requirement: SLP 2222 / STANAG 6001
