Situated directly on Günserstraße, the cemetery is surrounded by tranquillity and it is very silent when you enter it. The cemetery here is confrontation with the past. From field marshal to pupil, from prince to bourgeoisie, they all have one thing in common, the Alma Mater Theresiana.
In 1754, the crypt chapel was built for the burial of officers. Count Kinsky donated a bell for this chapel, which is still in use today.
The military academy has had its own cemetery since 22 January 1753. It was the part of the cemetery that is now located in the area around the chapel.

In 1815 and 1828, the cemetery was extended south of the crypt chapel. The last extension (the northern part) was made in 1914.
The cemetery is still used in accordance with the dedication of that time - as a final resting place for deceased members of the academy, former teachers and their immediate relatives.
